STOP! The Wizard evaluation ends here for Rooftop Photovoltaic installations.
Generally a building, electrical, and/or plumbing permit from the appropriate county is required for residential and other roof-mounted photovoltaic or solar water installations. Additional permits may be required for installations located at historic buildings. Approval from the local electrical utility is likely required to install photovoltaic on all buildings that will remain connected to the electrical grid, whether or not the photovoltaic system exports energy to grid. All permits and approvals must be obtained, and all agreements with the utility fully executed, before a new photovoltaic system can be legally energized.
Homeowners are advised to request copies of all required permits, approvals, and agreements from their photovoltaic contractor(s).
